SPILT MILK Essentials Vol. 1

May 4, 2020

Starting now, SPILT MILK will be releasing a bi-weekly playlist on Spotify, curated by someone new every other week. Sounds cool, right? But what does this have to do with the brand?

I’ve been thinking a lot lately. How can I get more people involved in SPILT MILK? We’ve definitely grown over the past three years. But I’ve had the feeling that there’s been something missing. The brand has always been about community and family. People coming together to support one another, living in the present, and embracing each failure and moment of adversity as an opportunity to grow. But it doesn’t feel like a community when there’s only one perspective being shared. I love writing these blogs and posting photos on social media. So how can I continue to showcase my ideas while opening up the floor to other members of the SPILT MILK family?

I think Guest Stories is a great place to start. Friends, family, and mentors writing about personal experiences and sharing how they’ve adopted the “don’t cry” philosophy as a way of life. The first Guest Story, written by my good friend, Max Palladini, just dropped last week. Check it out here. But I realized something not long after the post went live. Not everyone enjoys writing. There has to be a more universal medium.

Music.

I’ve only ever come across a couple of people who said they don’t like music at all. And I don’t trust those people. No matter what genre, style, or time period, we can agree that everyone loves jamming out to their favorite tunes. I like to think my taste in music is relatively diverse. In reality, it’s probably pretty basic. Either way, I listen to a little bit of everything. Yes, even Country music every now and then. Despite the broad range, I’m always on the hunt for new songs. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of finding a really good song you’ve never heard before. Bops. Slaps. Bangers. You know what I’m talking about.

Anyway, here we are. I’m hoping this will be a fun way to explore new music and open your eyes to new perspectives. To kick things off, I’ve curated the first volume of the SPILT MILK Essentials Mix series. These are the 25 songs that I’ve been playing on repeat lately, and most of them have some significance in my life right now in one way or another. Whether I’m cooking dinner or designing new threads (yup, new clothes dropping soon), these songs have been the soundtrack to my life. Tune in every other Monday for new playlists. Be sure to like and share the playlist and follow SPILT MILK on Spotify to stay up to date. I hope you enjoy it!
